Three men have been charged with First-Degree Murder resulting from an Aurora Police Department investigation of a shooting on the city’s West Side in May that left a man dead. The men, two from Chicago and one from Melrose Park and ranging in age from 18 to 36, are all charged with 1 count of First-Degree Murder, as well as 1 count of Home Invasion (class X felony), and two counts of Armed Violence (class X felony). The City of St. Charles has apparently had enough. According to a press just-issued press alert, the city has issued a 15-Day Notice of Intent to Sue for Demolition of the former Pheasant Run Resort property, citing public safety. This follows on the heels of Saturday’s fire at the dormant resort, the second such incident on the site in 15 months. The property is owned by Saint Charles Resort, LLC, out of Miami Beach, Fla. The city says that it “has been earnestly working with the property owner to improve safety, security, and overall conditions on the site” since the…

Former Kane County Sheriff Ken Ramsey, Sr., passed away Saturday morning at his home in Batavia. Ramsey, a lifelong law man and most recently a Deacon at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Batavia, was 75. Ramsey started out his career as an officer for the Batavia Police Department in the early ’70s. In 1974 he joined the Kane County Sheriffs’ Office where he went on to be elected Kane County Sheriff in 1994, serving three consecutive terms. Update: Officials from the Kane Couty Sheriff’s Office have released the identity of the motorcycle driver killed during Monday’s crash at Kaneland High School. Sixty-year-old John B. Smith of Maple Park was killed when the Harley-Davidson motorcycle he was riding was struck by a Suburu driven by a 16-year old female student from Sugar Grove. The accident occured when the student exited out of Kaneland High School parking lot, driving eastbound onto Keslinger Road, and then struck the Harley- Davidson motorcycle, which was traveling westbound on Keslinger Road. Aurora police found a 19-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds inside a crashed vehicle on Aurora’s west side Sunday evening. At 7:24pm Sunday, police were called to investigate a vehicle crash and person shot in the 1300 block of North Glen Circle i Aurora. Officers found a 19-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds inside a crashed vehicle. An unidentified person is dead after a car struck a motorcycle while the former was exiting Kaneland High School in Kaneland Township Monday afternoon. At approximately 3:12pm Monday, Kane Couny Sheriff’s officers were called to Kaneland High School for a report of an accident with injuries. It was determined that an automobile had collided with a motorcycle while leaving the school’s parking lot. The collision caused the driver of the motorcycle to be ejected, resulting in severe injuries. St. Charles firefighters were called to the former Pheasant Run Resort Saturday evening to extinguish a fire in one the buildings there. At 7:22pm on Saturday, the St. Charles Fire Department responded to a structure fire in a building located on the grounds of Pheasant Run Resort at 4051 East Main Street.
