For the fourth year running, sweet home Chicago has been named the nation’s most corrupt city in an annual report by political scientists at the University of Illinois – Chicago. The State of Illinois received the dubious distinction of being named the third most corrupt state. The St. Charles Business Alliance, which hosts the popular Electric Christmas Parade in downtown St. Charles over the Thanksgiving weekend, has announced its Grand Marshal for the parade. It’s a museum. The St. Charles History Museum will be the Grand Marshal for the annual parade, in honor of the celebration of the museum’s 90th anniversary. A man accused of being one of several robbers of multiple banks in DuPage County in July has been denied pre-trial release. The man, Kenneth Eggleston of Chicago, is a convicted felon and was out on parole for a weapon offense at the time of the alleged armed robberies. Eggelston, 30, also has two active arrest warrants out of Cook County for Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle and Aggravated Fleeing and Eluding a Police Officer. Two cousins have been charged for the murder of a 17-year-old from Carpentersville during a shooting incident last week. Kane County State’s Attorney Jamie L. Mosser and Village of Carpentersville Chief of Police Todd Shaver announced yesterday that the cousins are both charged with the offenses of: Prosecutors allege that during the evening of October 25, 2023, the cousins were driving in the vicinity of the 1-99 block of Robin Road, Carpentersville, when one or both fired multiple shots from a handgun in the direction of a vehicle containing multiple individuals. Aurora Downtown will once again have mugs flowing with hot cocoa throughout downtown. The downtown organization will host the fifth annual Cocoa Crawl on December 1 as part of its popular First Fridays events. Mugs and buttons needed to participate will go on sale November 3 at select downtown locations. To participate in the hot cocoa sampling during December’s First Fridays events, patrons will be required to have an official Cocoa Crawl mug and a new button for this year.
