Authorities are investigating the death of a 46-year-old woman on Aurora’s west side Saturday afternoon. At 4:49pm Saturday, Aurora police officers responded to reports of a vehicle crash and shots fired near Prairie Street and Woodlawn Avenue in Aurora. Upon arriving, officers discovered a single vehicle crash with a 46-year-old female suffering from gunshots wounds inside the vehicle. Aurora Fire Department Paramedics transported the woman to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead a short time later. No other injuries were reported during the incident. Elgin native Tom Shales, a hugely influential figure in the TV world during a writing career that spanned four decades, has died. Shales was 79 years old. An Elgin police officer responding to an attempted suicide allegedly found himself under attack from the subject he was trying to aid early Saturday morning, resulting in him shooting and wounding the subject, who was later transported to a local hospital in stable condition. Two Chicago women were arrested Wednesday as part of an investigation into prostitution activity at Hy Massage, 410 E. State Street in Geneva.The arrests came after an investigation initiated following community reports of illicit activity at the business.
