Illinois narrowly beat out California and Texas for the title. For the first time in years, Geneva’s electric customers will see their rates increase next month. Beginning Wednesday, November 15, citizens will see the electric portion of their utility bill jump 3.5% on average in order to pay for fixed costs for the city’s electric utility along with capital projects that will, according to the city, benefit residential, commercial and industrial customers. The Geneva City Council approved the new rate plan August 7. A 67-year-old resident of Naperville is dead after a violent head-on collision on Route 56 in Sugar Grove early Friday morning. At approximately 5:11am Friday, the Sugar Grove Police Department and Sugar Grove Fire Protection District responded to the area of Route 56 and I-88 for an accident with injuries. A 2021 Jeep Wrangler, driven by a 21-year-old Aurora resident, and a 2018 Subaru Forester, driven by a 67-year-old Naperville resident, were found in the westbound lanes of Route 56 in what appeared to be the aftermath of a head-on collision.
