This unique and longstanding tradition places ceremonial 3’ X 5’ American flags at the graves of 15 military personnel who were killed in action and laid to rest in Geneva Township cemeteries. Those killed in action served in the Civil War, Spanish American War, WWI, WWII, and the Vietnam War. An Aurora man is in custody after being charged with the kidnapping of a 17-year-old in Aurora. Early Wednesday afternoon, police were notified by the victim that she had been kidnapped in the area of Illinois Avenue and Orchard Avenue. Officers arrived on scene and learned the victim was walking in a nearby neighborhood when a man, unknown to her, began following her. Two Carpentersville men have been arrested in relation to a shooting Sunday evening that left a man hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. At 6:42pm Sunday evening, Elgin police officers responded to the 500 block of North McLean Boulevard for a reported shooting. Officers arrived on scene and located an adult male subject with apparent non-life-threatening injuries who was subsequently transported to an area hospital. The identity of the injured man has not been released. 2023 Wood Award Recipient Kristie Dienst has been named Parade Marshal for the 2024 Swedish Days Parade by the Geneva Chamber of Commerce. On Tuesday, June 11, the Lake Geneva Cruise Line will hold their annual tryout to choose this year’s mail delivery jumpers aboard the U.S. Mailboat Walworth.
