Inspired by the generosity of its employees, Northwestern Medicine is donating $200,000 to area food banks. The Greater Chicago Food Depository and Northern Illinois Food Bank will each receive $100,000. Health system leaders thanked staff and surprised them with the total gift amount during Team NM employee volunteer events at four food bank locations on Saturday, February 24. Northwestern Medicine leadership was inspired to dedicate more funds to the food banks after more than 5,000 employees opted to donate the grocery gift certificates they would have received as part of their holiday gifts. A Naperville man has been sentenced to thirteen years in prison for supplying a fatal dose of fentanyl to an Addison woman. Courvoisier Thomas, 40, appeared at his sentencing hearing Thursday afternoon in front of Judge Mia McPherson, who handed down the sentence. On September 27, 2023, Thomas entered a plea of guilty to one count of Drug Induced Homicide, a Class X Felony. On November 17, 2021, officers with the Addison Police Department found an unresponsive woman at a residence on Blecke Avenue in Addison. Officers also found baggies containing a white powdery substance, later identified as a fentanyl/fluorofentanyl…

New media artist Agnes Chavez will bring her creative approach to integrating art, science and technology to the U.S. Department of Energy’s Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory (Fermlab) in Batavia (Fermilab). She has been named 2024 guest artist by the Fermi Research Alliance. Based out of Taos, New Mexico, Chavez will focus on particles called neutrinos during her tenure, creating an extended reality experience that will stand alone as well as travel with her existing immersive mixed reality art installation called Space Messengers.
