Chicago Sinfonietta will present “American Rhapsody” on Friday, May 8, in Wentz Concert Hall on the campus of North Central College in Naperville. Chicago Sinfonietta closes their IGNITE season with a celebration of the many voices that have shaped the American soundscape. The program honors the nation’s upcoming 250th anniversary with works including George Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue, featuring pianist Clayton Stephenson, and William Dawson’s Negro Folk Symphony. The ECC Arts Center will present an adaptation of Ray Bradbury’s classic novel Fahrenheit 451 from Friday, May 1 through Sunday, May 3. Fahrenheit 451 depicts a future American society where books are outlawed and “firemen” burn them, with the title referring to the temperature at which paper ignites.
