St. Sophia Church at 525 Church Road in Elgin (Rt. 31 and I-90) will present its annual summer “Greek Fest” the weekend of June 5th, 6th and 7th. The fest will be open on Friday and Saturday from 12 noon to 10pm. Sunday’s hours are 12 noon to 9pm. Thousands of people attend the festival each year – it is open to the public and admission is free.

Guests will feast on authentic Greek delicacies such as Gyros, Grecian Chicken, Souvlaki, Pastitsio, Saganaki (the flaming cheese) and Greek Salad – all while enjoying ice cold refreshments including Greek Beer, Mediterranean Wine and the legendary Village Squire Mai Tai.

After a great meal, guests can unwind at the Greek Kafenio where many traditional sweets such as Baklava and loukoumathes can be found. Enjoy a cup of Greek or American coffee and peruse dozens of Greek desserts and cookie varietals.

Friday’s entertainment starts with DJ Yianni and ends with the John Panopoulos Orchestra playing all the hits! Saturday features DJ Yianni and then Rembetoneria. Sunday concludes with great Greek Music from Tony Kidonakis and friends (Beatles tribute band). We are also proud to feature Greek Dancing all weekend.

What better way to cool off than in the “Plaka” Marketplace inside the church hall where guests can shop for fabulous crafts, beautiful jewelry, books, icons, clothing and other treasures.

And don’t forget to buy a raffle ticket for the GRAND RAFFLE where you can win up to $10,000!

For additional information, call 847-888-2822 or email through the website www.stsophiagreekfest.com.

Go on, be Greek for a day!
