The Kane County Cougars return to Northwestern Medicine Field this weekend and have a few surprises in store. Swedish Days brings thousands of people to Geneva to enjoy food, music and plenty of fun for people of all ages each summer. It also brings significant traffic congestion. The Geneva Police Department has announced that parking restrictions will be implemented to accommodate this signature event, and two downtown streets will be closed throughout the festivities from Wednesday to Sunday, June 21-25. Parking signage will be temporarily posted in certain areas throughout the week, and Swedish Days visitors should be mindful of the restrictions when parking downtown. A Plano man was struck and killed by an Amtrak train this morning near the intersection of Hale Street and Main Street. According to a press release from the Plano Police Department, at approximately 8:39 a.m. this morning officers responded to the railroad crossing near the intersection of Hale St. and Main St. for a report of an individual who was struck by an Amtrak train. The officers found an adult male subject with life threatening injuries. After speaking with multiple witnesses, it was determined that the male walked in front of the train on his own accord. The Fox Valley Antiques Show has been around for decades. 65 years, in fact. But for this, its 66th year, things are a little different. The Chicago Suburban Antiques Dealers Association, which produces the annual show, has changed venues from Kane County Fairgrounds to the Dupage County Fairgrounds in Wheaton, renaming the event “The First Annual Fox Valley At the Fairgrounds Anitques Show.” While the venue has changed, the offerings on tap remain intriguing. 45 dealers from 10 states will gather under one roof to present the best of Americana. Naperville police are investigating “an exchange of gunfire” at a residence on the city’s southwest side yesterday afternoon. At approximately 2:04 p.m. Subday, police responded to the 2200 block of Wentworth Court to a report of shots fired. The preliminary investigation suggests that an armed subject, who is known to a person at the residence, was able to gain access to the premises. It has yet to be determined as to what transpired but there was an exchange of gunfire between the subject and one person in the home. The subject then fled the area in a vehicle. No one…
