In January 2021, 17-year-old Ishmail Gonzalez shot and permanently paralyzed a woman while attempting a carjacking in an Aurora restaurant parking lot. He will now serve a minimum of 34 years in prison. Gonzalez has agreed to a sentence of 40 years of imprisonment in the Illinois Department of Corrections in exchange for a guilty plea to the offenses of aggravated battery with a firearm, Class X felony, and armed violence, Class X felony. The Kane County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the circumstances of a 14-year-old male found dead in Aurora Tuesday evening. According to a press release, at approximately 8:11pm on Tuesday, Kane County Deputies responded to the 1400 block of Exposition Avenue in Aurora, IL (unincorporated Aurora Township) for a death investigation. An unidentified 14-year-old male juvenile was found deceased at the scene. The investigation is ongoing by the Kane County Sheriff’s Office, assisted by the Kane County Investigations Division, the Kane County Evidence Division, and the Aurora Police Department. An Aurora man and convicted felon who shot and injured two people during a bar fight in Montgomery has been sentenced to 20 years in prison by a Kendall County judge. He had previously been convicted in a jury trial of Aggravated Battery with a Firearm, among other charges. A Naperville man has been arrested and charged with hate crimes after allegedly affixing stickers in the shape of a swastika on the campaign signs of a candidate for the DuPage County Board. It is alleged that at some point in time between October 2 and October 16, 2022, the 49-year-old suspect defaced two campaign signs for candidate Patricia Gustin with swastika stickers he created with a marker and other stickers.
