An 18-year-old male from Elgin has been indicted on DUI offenses related to a fatal crash in October that took the lives of two Campton Hills’ teenagers. Kane County State’s Attorney Jamie L. Steve Hernandez, owner of popular Aurora restaurant La Cabana Mexican Cafe at 835 River Street in Aurora, has passed away suddenly, according to a statement posted on the restaurant’s Facebook Page today. Hernandez was 72 years old. Hernandez took over the restaurant from his father in 1992, and all together the establishment has been serving the Aurora area for over 55 years. A exchange of gunfire between occupants of a moving vehicle and individuals walking on the sidewalk last Thursday resulted in felony charges against an adult and a juvenile in Elgin.
