The Aurora Police Department is investigating an apparent murder-suicide on the city’s west side on Friday afternoon. Just after 12:30 p.m., officers were called to the 2100 block of Kensington Place for reports of suspicious activity. Due the circumstances and the information received by dispatch, officers immediately setup a perimeter around the home and asked neighbors to remain inside their homes. Members of APD’s Special Response Team (SRT) were requested to the scene. A short time later, SRT entered the home and found two people dead inside. On Nov. 20, 2016, Latawn Coon of Aurora went to the home of an acquaintance, who was not there. Coon entered the home without permission, went to the bedroom of a sleeping child and sexually assaulted her by force. Another child was present in the bedroom. Coon knew the victim, who was younger than 12 years old. Kane County Judge David P. A man was shot and wounded on the 800 block of Jefferson Avenue in Elgin Tuesday afternoon, according to a police press release. On Tuesday, at approximately 4:11 p.m., Elgin Police Department officers responded to the 800 block of Jefferson Avenue for a report of shots fired. Upon arrival, an adult male victim was located with what appeared to be a non-life threatening gunshot wound. The victim was transported to an area hospital by the Elgin Fire Department.
