Advocate Sherman Hospital in Elgin has begun rescheduling elective surgeries in September, and it has nothing to do with COVID. Rather, the hospital is citing a shortage of anesthesia providers as the reason it is either delaying or reassigning elective surgeries to its affiliate locations in Aurora. In a statement to Fox Valley Magazine, a hospital spokesperson emphasized that non-elective procedures will not be affected by the shortage. “The health and safety of our patients is our top priority. St. Charles residents Donnie Wahlberg and Jenny McCarthy celebrated the 7th anniversary of their marriage in an unusual – and very public – way. Wahlberg, star of CBS’ long-running hit “Blue Bloods,” took to Instagram to share his surprise for McCarthy on their anniversary – a renewal of their wedding vows from 7 years ago. A St. Charles man who plead guilty to strangling two women has been sentenced to 7 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections. 30-year-old Jeffrey J. Haugen agreed to the sentence in exchange for a guilty plea to the offense of aggravated domestic battery-strangulation, Class 2 felony, 2 counts. Kane County Judge Salvatore LoPiccolo accepted the plea. On March 30, 2019, Haugen and his girlfriend, the victim, got into an argument, with Haugen ultimately chasing her upstairs, pushing her onto the bed, putting her into a choke hold, obstructing her breathing, and then striking her in the head with her mobile phone.…

Two men were shot Sunday afternoon in the 600 block of Amersale Drive in Naperville in what police describe as a likely “transaction” gone bad. The men were transported to hospitals. An 18-year-old male victim from Naperville is in critical condition and a 17-year-old male from Aurora was treated at a local hospital and released. The U.S. Supreme Court ruled the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention exceeded its authority in issuing the federal moratorium, and a future extension of the moratorium would have to come from Congress. Aurora Police have identified the victim and suspect in Friday’s murder-suicide on the west side of the city. Carolyn Walker, 62, from the 2100 block of Kensington Place, was shot to death inside of her home. The suspect, Kenneth Milon, 66, from Orland Park, also was found dead inside the house with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
