Welcome to our latest edition of Fox Valley Magazine’s

4 FOR THE WEEKEND

where the Bronx is up and the
Bowery’s down. (You’ll get it in a minute.)

So let’s get to it, starting with…..

“The Man Who Made Sinatra Laugh”

Tom Dreesen is the bomb.

Ok, “bomb” is probably not the best adjective for a comedian.

But he’s a bloody legend.

While he makes much of his 14 years fronting for Sinatra (and who wouldn’t?), Dreesen has led an extraordinary life in his own right, going from hard-luck Harvey, Illinois to Hollywood, California.

And he’s a rabid Cub fan as a bonus.

Check out our podcast with Tom here. And go check him out Saturday at The Comedy Shrine in Aurora.

Dice, Dice, Baby!

“I thought he was dead?”

Be honest, that’s one of the first things that goes through your head when you hear the name Andrew Dice Clay.

Understandable, but woefully wrong.

The Diceman is alive and well and playing the Arcada this weekend.

Yeah, the dude’s a little rough around the edges, but we think he’s hilarious. It’s nice to see a comedy act that you just know isn’t afraid of the “woke” crowd.

Go get ’em, brother.

Places In The Art

Ok, we know that’s a really obscure reference.

And a really bad pun.

But hey, this enewsletter is free, so deal with it.

We really don’t know about you (our surveillance drone is on the fritz), but one of things we really love during the late summer/fall is walking the street festivals, particularly the artsy ones. There’s just a vibe to it, you know?

Since the weekends are dwindling, don’t miss the opportunity to indulge this weekend in Aurora. Looks like a great time.

And Finally…

One of the last really big festivals of the year returns after a year’s absence.

The Windmill City Festival is one of those quirky festivals that has a true variety of kids and adult entertainment.

It’s corny, but in a really nice way.

Spanning the whole weekend, beginning today, there really is no excuse to not stop in for at least a while and enjoy a truly uniquely Fox Valley experience.

And watch out for the bubbles…

Your weekly weekend weather advisory is looking pretty good this weekend. Gonna be a bit muggy with high temperatures in the upper 80s/lower 90s, and, at least only scattered showers and t-storms on Sunday. But this time of year, anything can happen. Plan accordingly.

If, for whatever reason, none of our fabulous four events doesn’t pop your cork, we’ll be very insulted. However, all hope is not lost. Simply go to www.foxvalleymagazine.com and check out our A+E and Events sections for other ideas.

Finally, please do us a favor. We would be eternally grateful if you could share this with some of your unsuspecting family, friends and neighbors. We’d also appreciate some love on our Facebook page (see below). Ok, technically it’s a “LIKE,” but don’t be pedantic. Also, that’s actually two favors. We’ll owe you.

Thanks for reading. Until next time…OH!  One more thing.  If you’re reading this via the website and would like to have this emailed to you bright and early every Friday morning, please SUBSCRIBE!
