Two men have been arrested and charged in connection with Thursday’s shooting incident near the Elgin Sports Complex. A subject was hospitalized as a result of the shooting. After investigating the incident, a 25-year-old Chicago man and a 29-year-old Elgin man were arrested and charged after a review of the facts of the case by the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office. Award-winning actor Michael Fasbender (of X-Men fame), Golden Globes winner and Oscar nominee director David Fincher (Gone Girl) and crew will be at Hotel Baker in St. Charles this week to continue filming for the upcoming Netflix noir thriller “The Killer.” The choice of the Hotel Baker as a venue in the film was announced in late January. The City of St. Charles announced various traffic and parking restrictions to accommodate the filming. An apparent domestic dispute in Elgin led to an 11-hour stand-off overnight. At a little past 7pm Friday evening, Elgin police were called to a residence in the 0-100 block of Walker Place in the city’s Historic District to investigate an alleged domestic dispute. The situation deteriorated, with a subject barricading themselves from police. Officers from the SWAT Team, Crisis Negotiations Team, Collaborative Crisis Service Unit, and the Major Investigations Division arrived on scene and, while it was determined that the incident was an isolated one and that there was no threat to the public, the police advised the public…

A subject was hospitalized Thursday as a result of a shooting incident near the Elgin Sports Compex. At 11:57 a.m., Elgin police officers responded to the 1200 block of Fleetwood Drive for a reported shooting. Officers arrived on scene and located a subject with injuries who was subsequently transported to an area hospital. The subject’s condition is unknown. Preliminary information received is that this incident appears to be isolated with no threat to the community. The gunfire incident was the 12th this year. Paul Lencioni, who has run the market for almost 10 years, had announced the closing in early February. According to AAA, the average price for a gallon of gas in the Fox Valley has now topped $4. As of Wednesday, prices in Kane County averaged $4.081. In DuPage, the average was $4.116 and in Kendall $4.046. In the last two weeks, the average price per gallon has jumped nearly $.20, and there is no end in sight. Prices were already rising prior to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, having increased approximately $.40 per gallon, or 11%, over the last year. Since the invasion, prices have jumped another 5%.
