Two people were hospitalized Tuesday, including a child, after a traffic accident in Batavia involving a pickup truck and a bicycle towing a child bicycle trailer.
According to police, at approximately 5:00pm, officers from the Batavia Police Department responded to a traffic collision in the 100 block of First Street involving a pickup truck and a bicycle towing a child bicycle trailer. Preliminary findings indicate that the vehicles collided at the intersection of First Street and South Water Street, with the child trailer becoming lodged near or beneath the front of the pickup truck.
The child was removed from the trailer and provided medical care from Batavia medics at the scene. Both the bicyclist and their child passenger were transported to a local medical facility for further evaluation and treatment of injuries described as non-life threatening.
This incident remains under active investigation. At this time, no citations have been issued.
