A 33-year-old doctor who was formerly employed at Advocate Sherman Hospital in Elgin has been charged with sexually assaulting a 16-year-old minor with an intellectual disability in the poolside bathroom of an Elgin hotel.
Kane County State’s Attorney Jamie L. Mosser and Elgin Chief of Police Ana Lally announced today that the suspect, who lives in Chicago, has been charged with Aggravated criminal sexual assault, a class X felony; Criminal sexual assault, a class 1 felony; Unlawful restraint, a class 4 felony; Aggravated criminal sexual abuse, a class 2 felony (4 counts); and Sexual exploitation of a child, a class A misdemeanor (2 counts).
Prosecutors allege that on or about November 29, the suspect unlawfully restrained and sexually assaulted a 16-year-old minor with an intellectual disability. He is charged with having followed the minor into a single-use poolside bathroom of an Elgin hotel that they were both staying at, locked the door behind him, and sexually assault the minor.
The suspect is a medical doctor who at the time of the alleged assault was employed at Advocate Sherman Hospital in Elgin as an adult hospitalist. According to Advocate Health, his employment has since been terminated. Investigators do not believe that the victim was a previous patient of the suspect or that he knew the victim prior to the alleged assault. The suspect was staying at the hotel on his personal time.

Yesterday, the suspect was brought to court for a pretrial detention hearing, during which the Kane County State’s Attorney’s office argued for his detention. Granting this petition, the court ordered the suspect detained in the Kane County jail while his case is pending. His next court date is set for December 29, 2025, at 9am in Courtroom 211 at the Kane County Judicial Center.
