A 44-year-old United States Customs and Border Protection officer from Pingree Grove has been indicted in US District Court on allegations that in 2022 he sexually assaulted and robbed multiple women in Schaumburg and Naperville.
The indictment, which was unsealed Tuesday in US District Court in Chicago, charges the suspect with ten counts of deprivation of civil rights under color of law and one count of brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence.
The suspect performed both customs and immigration duties for CBP in the Chicago area. As a CBP officer, the suspect had the authority to carry a firearm and make arrests for felony and other relevant offenses.
According to the indictment, the suspect allegedly brandished a firearm in at least one of the sexual assaults, and he also robbed and attempted to sexually assault two other women.
The suspect was arrested Tuesday morning and pleaded not guilty during his arraignment in federal court. US Magistrate Judge Keri L. Holleb Hotaling scheduled a detention hearing for December 15, 2025, at 1:30pm.
If convicted of the charges in the indictment, the suspect faces a mandatory minimum sentence of seven years in federal prison and a maximum of life. If convicted, the Court must impose a reasonable sentence under federal statutes and the advisory US Sentencing Guidelines.
