A 52-year-old Campton Township man has been arrested and charged with 44 counts of producing child sexual abuse material (CSAM) over a six-month period beginning in November 2025.
A press release from Kane County State’s Attorney Jamie L. Mosser and Kane County Sheriff Ron Hain disclosed that the accused has been charged with Production of CSAM, a Class X felony (15 counts); Production of CSAM, a Class 1 felony (5 counts); Possession of CSAM, a Class 3 felony (6 counts); Possession of CSAM, a Class 2 felony (14 counts); and Obscene Depiction of a Purported Child, a Class 2 felony (4 counts).
Prosecutors allege that between November 13, 2025, and May 17, 2026, the accused used artificial intelligence to produce sexually explicit images and videos of minors under the ages of 18 and 13. He is alleged to have used AI to alter images of real children, as well as to have created entirely AI-generated CSAM.
The accused came to the attention of law enforcement through a CyberTip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). After a three-month investigation, charges were filed on August 12, 2026, and the accused was taken into the custody of the Kane County Sheriff’s Office on August 13, 2026.
On August 14, 2026, the accused appeared in court for a pretrial detention hearing, during which the State argued for his detention. Finding that no conditions of release could mitigate the real and present threat that he poses to the community, the Court ordered him detained in the Kane County Jail while the case is pending.
The accused’s next court date is set for August 20, 2026, at 9am in Courtroom 313 of the Kane County Judicial Center.
