Wine selections available at local wine stores and wineries in the Fox Valley area.

A Bright Debut: Lynfred Winery’s 2024 Albariño Shines with Lively Elegance
Albariño (pronounced alba-reen-yo) has long been celebrated as one of the Iberian Peninsula’s most captivating white grape varieties. Hailing from Galicia in northwest Spain and Portugal’s Minho region, where it is known as Alvarinho, this grape is prized for producing wines that brim with energy, freshness, and coastal charm.

In recent years, Albariño has found an inspired new home in Lodi, California, a region whose Mediterranean climate mirrors that of its Iberian origins. Warm days, tempered by cool Delta breezes and dramatic temperature shifts at night, allow the grapes to retain their crisp acidity while developing layers of citrus, stone fruit, and mineral-driven complexity.

Lynfred Winery’s 2024 Albariño marks the winery’s first vintage of this expressive varietal, a milestone that beautifully bridges Old World tradition and New World innovation. Crafted entirely from Lodi-grown fruit, the wine was fermented and aged in stainless steel to preserve its purity and vibrancy. The result is a bright, refreshing wine that dazzles the senses with aromas of nectarine, lime, lemon zest, and chamomile, unfolding on the palate with flavors of Meyer lemon, white peach, and a touch of minerality.

With a light body and a crisp, zesty finish, the Lynfred Albariño 2024 is a versatile companion at the table. It pairs effortlessly with seafood and white fish, complements fresh green salads, and sings alongside cheeses like feta, burrata, and fresh chèvre.

Dry, elegant, and bursting with life, Lynfred’s inaugural Albariño is a radiant celebration of craftsmanship and terroir, a wine that invites you to savor summer in every sip. This wine will be available to Lynfred Wine Club Members on November 1, 2025, and available to the public on February 1, 2026. $25.
