A 32-year-old Aurora man has accepted a plea deal of 13 years in prison for “Involuntary Servitude” involving the effective enslavement of women for prostitution.
Kane County State’s Attorney Jamie L. Mosser announced today that Jamar R. Hare has agreed to a sentence of 13 years of imprisonment in the Illinois Department of Corrections in exchange for a guilty plea to six counts of Involuntary Servitude, a class X felony. Each count includes a different named victim.
Judge David Kliment accepted the plea.
According to prosecutors, during 2020 and 2021 Hare made money from a scheme that involved men paying for sexual acts from women under the defendant’s control at a residence in Aurora. Hare used illegal drugs, threats and physical force to control the women providing the sexual acts. Each of the victims was over 18 years of age.
“The defendant used illegal drugs and the threat of violence to exploit the victims/survivors in this case for his personal gain,” Assistant State’s Attorney Matthew Rodgers said. “Fortunately, they had the strength and courage to come forward and hold him accountable.”
Under Illinois law, each of the six sentences of 13 years run concurrently. Hare is eligible for day-for-day sentencing. He receives credit for 270 days served in the Kane County jail.
