A doctor who practiced in Yorkville has been sentenced to 37 in prison for sexually abusing his minor patient and sometime employee over a nine-month period at both his office and home.
Kendall County State’s Attorney Eric Weis announced that Edgar Archbold of Yorkville was sentenced to a total of 37 years in prison for seven counts of Criminal Sexual Assault earlier this month after a contested sentencing hearing in front of Judge Jody Gleason. Archbold had previously entered pleas of guilty back in October of 2024 as his jury trial was scheduled to start.
Charges against Archbold were filed following the initiation of an investigation in April 2023. The minor victim was both a patient and employee for several years of Archbold, a doctor with a practice in Yorkville. The minor victim disclosed to her mother and then to law enforcement investigators that, for approximately nine months, Archbold had committed multiple acts of sexual penetration on the minor victim at both his business and home located in Yorkville.
The minor victim came forward when questioned by her mother about the on-going abuse, but expressed fear that Archbold would seek retribution against her and her family. Members of the Yorkville Police Department obtained a judicial overhear order and during a recorded telephone conversation with Archbold, he admitted to many of the acts of sexual penetration with the minor victim.
“Archbold took advantage of his position as a trusted doctor to violate a teenager who relied on him for treatment and employment. It is her bravery, coupled with the work of law enforcement, that ensures that Archbold will be behind bars for the rest of his life – exactly where he should be.” Weis stated.
Archbold must serve a minimum of 85% of his 37-year prison sentence. Based upon his age, this sentence amounts to life in prison.
