An Aurora man has been sentenced to 13 years in prison for drugging and then sexually assaulting a woman whom he knew.

Kane County State’s Attorney Jamie Mosser announced yesterday that Judge Bianca Camargo sentenced Ricardo Lemos, who had been convicted in October 2024 of criminal sexual assault, a class 1 felony, to 13 years of imprisonment in the Illinois Department of Corrections.

According to prosecutors, on July 2, 2022, Lemos provided cocaine to the victim, a person he knew at the time. He then sexually assaulted the victim during a time when the victim was unable to consent to sexual activity.

In addition to the prison term, Lemos must register for life as a sexual offender in accordance with the Illinois Sexual Offender Registration Act. He must serve at least 85 percent of the sentence. He receives credit for 535 days served in the Kane County jail.

Lemos also previously pled guilty in Case No. 2022CF1179 to the offense of criminal trespass to a residence, a class 4 felony, and was sentenced to 18 months of imprisonment in the Illinois Department of Corrections, to be served consecutively to the 13 year sentence.

“This sentence represents justice for the victim and holds Mr. Lemos accountable for his reprehensible actions,” said Assistant State’s Attorney Matthew Rodgers. “Thank you to victim advocate Sheila Gray, ASA Carlson and Detective Grabowski of the Aurora Police Department for their work on this case.”
