Kane County To Add Non-Motorized Watercraft Launches, Solar-Powered Signs Along the Fox River

Kane County will construct five new non-motorized watercraft launches and install solar-powered informational signs along the Fox River. These projects aim to support enhance accessibility, economic development, and community engagement along the Fox River.

New Watercraft Launches
Five launch sites will improve public access to the river:

  • Montgomery: Montgomery Park
  • Batavia: Near Clark Island
  • South Elgin: SEBA Park (complementing its accessible playground)
  • East Dundee: William C. Bartels Park expansion
  • Carpentersville: A new riverside park under development

The $1.2 million project, funded by the American Rescue Plan Act, is set to begin construction in spring 2024.

Informational Signs
Kane County will install up to 12 solar-powered electronic signs along the river. These signs will promote the Fabulous Fox! National Water Trail and display real-time updates, such as river conditions, local events, and community information.
