Welcome to our latest edition of Fox Valley Magazine’s

    4 FOR THE WEEKEND

where every day we have the blues.

So let’s get to it, starting with…..

    Our Woman Done Left Us…

Sorry, that phrase just seemed right for this event.

Get on down to RiverEdge in Aurora for the 26th Annual Blues on the Fox bluesfest this weekend. The lineup is fantastic and the venue magnificent.

Not much more to say. Get to it!

    Well, Yee-Haw!

    How’s that for cultural whiplash?

We don’t get many rodeos in these-here parts. So git yer rear end down to Sonny Acres in West Chicago and hoot and holler for some serious cowboy action.

And please, we beg you, resist the temptation to exclaim “this ain’t my first rodeo, pardner!” It’s considered poor form.

    Little Festival On The Prairie

Yeah, alright, we’re stretching here (with the headline, we mean).

Anyway, these kinds of small-town festivals are a big part of what makes the Fox Valley so amazing.

Think about it. In the space of a couple of days, you can go see world-class live blues, a rodeo and enjoy a little bit of small-town Americana – all without leaving the Fox Valley.

    It’s beautiful thing.

    And Finally…

On a more serious note, Monday is Juneteenth, a national holiday to celebrate the “final Emancipation” of slaves in the United States. On this day, in Galveston, Texas, General Order Number 3 was issued by General Gordon Granger to the people of Texas declaring that, in accordance with the Emancipation Proclamation, all slaves in Texas were now free. It was the final jurisdiction remaining to effect the Proclamation.

Truly a day of celebration, for all Americans. So spend some time this weekend at one of the events around the Fox Valley celebrating this profound moment in our history.

We’ve given up on predicting the weather. The Weather Channel is always wrong. You’re on your own, folks.

If, for whatever reason, none of our fabulous four events doesn’t pop your cork, we’ll be very insulted. However, all hope is not lost. Simply go to www.foxvalleymagazine.com and check out our A+E and Events sections for other ideas.

Finally, please do us a favor. We would be eternally grateful if you could share this with some of your unsuspecting family, friends and neighbors. We’d also appreciate some love on our Facebook page (see below). Ok, technically it’s a “LIKE,” but don’t be pedantic. Also, that’s actually two favors. We’ll owe you.

Thanks for reading. Until next time…OH!  One more thing.  If you’re reading this via the website and would like to have this emailed to you bright and early every Friday morning, please SUBSCRIBE!
