Most runners and cyclists in the Fox Valley are aware of The Great Western Trail. Most walkers know about the Fox River Trail. But the Taco Trail?
Explore Elgin Area, the state-certified destination marketing organization (DMO) for Elgin and the surrounding region, is announcing the launch of the 2023-2024 Taco Trail. Beginning today, April 15th, 2023, and running until April 15th, 2024, this unique adventure will showcase some of the best tacos in the area – and that’s saying something.
The Taco Trail will feature a variety of local restaurants that serve up delicious tacos. Participants will have the opportunity to visit multiple locations and check off their digital passports. Once a participant has 3 different Taco Trail restaurants checked off, they are entered into drawings to win gift cards. At the end of the trail, Explore Elgin Area will announce the grand prize winner of a mystery basket valued at $100!
“This is a fun way for visitors and residents to explore our diverse culinary scene and support our local restaurants,” said Krisilee Murphy, President/CEO of Explore Elgin Area. “We are excited to showcase the incredible taco options throughout our region, and we hope the Taco Trail will encourage everyone to try some new dining spots over the next year.”
Eight businesses have already signed up to be a part of the trail. Applications remain open to sign up other businesses so more will likely be announced soon. The lineup for the first round of businesses is:
- Carmina’s Mexican Restaurant & Banquet, Elgin
- Emmett’s Brewing Co., West Dundee
- One Taco Dos Tequilas, Bartlett
- Beaunique Latin Kitchen, Elgin
- Inches Tacos, Hampshire
- Old Republic Kitchen + Bar, Elgin
