A 23-year-old Aurora man was killed Thursday when his motorcycle collided with a pickup truck on Aurora’s West Side.
According to a police report, the man, identified as Jackson B. Bennett, 23, of the 900 block of Old Indian Trail in Aurora, was riding his motorcycle westbound on Sunset Avenue when it collided with a pickup truck that was traveling southbound on Wilder Street just before 9:00pm Thursday evening.
Bennett was flown by medical helicopter to a Chicago-area trauma hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
Another man was injured in the accident, but his wounds are considered non-life-threatening.
Aurora Police Department’s Traffic Division responded to the scene to conduct an investigation into the crash. Traffic investigators used state-of-the-art drone technology to create a 3D digital map of the scene that allows investigators to see specific details and measurements of the scene.
The intersection of Wilder Street and Sunset Avenue remained closed for several hours while traffic investigators reconstructed the accident. Volunteers from Aurora’s Emergency Management Agency also responded to the scene to assist with scene lighting and traffic control.
