4 FOR THE WEEKEND
So let’s get to it, starting with…..
All That Jazz
It’s a great weekend in the Fox Valley because it’s the annual St. Charles Jazz Weekend.
Would that every weekend were the Jazz Weekend, but alas musical tastes have…er…”progressed.”
(Yes, that was very difficult for us to write.)
Anyway, God’s music will be filling the air all weekend from a wide variety of venues, so head on down.
(We do have one quibble with the organizers. People, Chicago was a fantastic band. But just because they have a horn section doesn’t mean they’re jazz. C’mon.)

Bring On The Weird…
We mentioned this last week, but the real fun begins this weekend.
It’s weird. It’s wacky. Sometimes it’s provocative and sometimes it’s just downright gross.
But the truth is, there’s nothing quite like the Fringe Festival.

So, it’s called “Festival of the Vine,” right?
And “vine” typically equates with “wine,” right? (Fellow Catholics get it right away – “Fruit of the vine and work of human hands….”)
Sure, in the past they’ve tried to pretty it up by saying “oh, all kinds of things that grow on vines are harvested in the fall, so this is just a harvest festival!”
Yeah, right.
Festival of the Vine is supposed to be about wine, glorious wine (to paraphrase George Bernhard Shaw). Period.
But now it’s expanded to food. Hey, we like food just as much as anyone. And the magnificent restaurants in the Fox Valley will undoubtedly delight festival-goers with their offerings. But still…
How about a little truth in labelling, eh?

And Finally…
Mr. Las Vegas. Mr. Entertainment. The Midnight Idol.
Whatever you want to call him, he’s a legend.
And you can see this legend live this weekend at the Des Plaines Theatre in Des Plaines.
Listen to the “Just A Coupla Guys” podcast here and then go see the man on Sunday at 5pm.
You may never get another chance.

We’ve given up on predicting the weather. The Weather Channel is always wrong. You’re on your own, folks.
If, for whatever reason, none of our fabulous four events doesn’t pop your cork, we’ll be very insulted. However, all hope is not lost. Simply go to www.foxvalleymagazine.com and check out our A+E and Events sections for other ideas.
Finally, please do us a favor. We would be eternally grateful if you could share this with some of your unsuspecting family, friends and neighbors. We’d also appreciate some love on our Facebook page (see below). Ok, technically it’s a “LIKE,” but don’t be pedantic. Also, that’s actually two favors. We’ll owe you.
Thanks for reading. Until next time…OH! One more thing. If you’re reading this via the website and would like to have this emailed to you bright and early every Friday morning, please SUBSCRIBE!
