4 FOR THE WEEKEND
where forgetful people love reruns.
So let’s get to it, starting with…..
Goin’ Straight To The Booze
We love Batavia’s annual “Cocktails In The Park” event, because it’s so honest.
There’s no pretense. There’s no “hook.” There’s nothing to distract from what people go there for: booze.
We mean, sure, it’s all dolled-up in an air of refinement and civilized surroundings, and it’s unlikely that a group of middle-aged men will revert to beer bongs and drunken songs about dear old alma mater.
But at its core it is pure and elemental: come to the park and drink.
What a country!

Speaking of Refinement…
…the annual Geneva Arts Fair has plenty of it.
Now, we won’t claim to be artistically sophisticated. Considering the fact that we still require Garanimals to make sure our colors match when we get dressed (you remember, match the animals to match the colors), we’d say our artistic talent falls in the range of 2-year-old fingerpainting and paint-by-numbers (which we also fail at).
However, we know what we like when we see it.
For the more sophisticated, this great event is not to be missed.

Look out! Whiplash Alert!
Yes, we go from cocktails in the park and art fairs to…
…THE MOTOR CITY MADMAN!
(Isn’t this a great place to live?)
Yep, Ted Nugent himself will blast the stage at the Arcada this weekend for TWO shows, Saturday and Sunday.
We dare you to go to the arts fair and then this show. Your head will explode!

And Finally…
A nice way to end the weekend.
Kansas, with Chicago-boy Ronnie Platt singing lead, will perform at RiverEdge Park in Aurora on Sunday.
(And listen to our exclusive interview with Platt at the bottom of the article.)
Kansas has been around seemingly forever, and their popularity as a prog-rock innovator hasn’t dimmed.
But Platt’s story – going from truck driver to the lead singer of his favorite band at age 50 – is the stuff of legends.
Check out the podcast then see the show. Good stuff.

If, for whatever reason, none of our fabulous four events doesn’t pop your cork, we’ll be very insulted. However, all hope is not lost. Simply go to www.foxvalleymagazine.com and check out our A+E and Events sections for other ideas.
Finally, please do us a favor. We would be eternally grateful if you could share this with some of your unsuspecting family, friends and neighbors. We’d also appreciate some love on our Facebook page (see below). Ok, technically it’s a “LIKE,” but don’t be pedantic. Also, that’s actually two favors. We’ll owe you.
Thanks for reading. Until next time…OH! One more thing. If you’re reading this via the website and would like to have this emailed to you bright and early every Friday morning, please SUBSCRIBE!
