4 FOR THE WEEKEND
where this week we celebrate bloodthirsty savages in long boats and funny hats.
So let’s get to it, starting with…..
Celebrate Murderous Plunderers!!
Anyone who knows the history of the Vikings…hell, anyone who’s watched the HBO series “Vikings”…could be forgiven for wondering why Geneva celebrates “Swedish Days.”
I mean, come on, the very mention of Christopher Columbus sends some people into a woke swoon, but we’re celebrating a people whose contribution to Western civilization was primarily innovating new techniques to rape, plunder, slaughter and steal.
On the plus side, they did help with the population problem.
Ok, ok, just kidding. We love the Swedes! Sure, they spell things funny and eat the weirdest foods, but if you lived in darkness half the year, you’d be a little verklempt and murderous too! Give ’em a break!

Now THIS Is A Block Party
There are municipalities who couldn’t put on this kind of party.
The annual fundraiser for LivingWell Cancer Resourse Center, a magnificent not-for-profit that provides a myriad of services – free-of-charge – to cancer patients and their caregivers, is usually a very high-end kind of soiree.
This year, Ed and Karen French, who have hosted the fundraiser since 2010, outdid themselves.
They are creating a complete streetfest outside of their rather palatial St. Charles home, with live music, food, games, booze, and on and on. At $250/ticket, it’s not the cheapest activity on deck this weekend, but it will certainly be one of the most fun. And it’s for a great cause.

Jammin At RiverEdge
We’ll just come out and say it: we love RiverEdge.
We love everything about it. The stage, the amenities, the beauty of the river, the great lineups…we mean, what’s not to love?
This weekend you’ve got a choice between the classic rock sounds of Chicago (from tribute band The Chicago Experience) or some headbanging with Skid Row and Quiet Riot.
How can you lose?

And Finally…
This is about as quirky a bit of fun as you’re gonna experience outside of San Francisco.
(Don’t ask.)
Cirque Italia is basically a water-based Cirque du Soleil. Sound weirdly intriguing?
It is. Click below for the video introduction, You’ll see what we mean.
They’re at the Chicago Premium Outlet in Aurora until July 4th. Check’em out.

It looks like a mixed bag this weekend. Friday looks to be sunny and warm (high 92), Saturday cloudy and warm with thunderstorms likely in the evening, and Sunday looks sunny and mild (high 78). As ever, plan accordingly.
If, for whatever reason, none of our fabulous four events doesn’t pop your cork, we’ll be very insulted. However, all hope is not lost. Simply go to www.foxvalleymagazine.com and check out our A+E and Events sections for other ideas.
Finally, please do us a favor. We would be eternally grateful if you could share this with some of your unsuspecting family, friends and neighbors. We’d also appreciate some love on our Facebook page (see below). Ok, technically it’s a “LIKE,” but don’t be pedantic. Also, that’s actually two favors. We’ll owe you.
Thanks for reading. Until next time…OH! One more thing. If you’re reading this via the website and would like to have this emailed to you bright and early every Friday morning, please SUBSCRIBE!
