4 FOR THE WEEKEND
where we don’t slap comedians….we hire someone to do it for us.
So let’s get to it, starting with…..
ROCK OF AGES Opens at the Paramount
You want over-the-top? We’ll give you over-the-top.
(In a good way.)
Paramount’s Broadway Series continues with the opening of Rock of Ages, a wild and joyous celebration of rock’s past.
Well, if you consider the 80s to be, you know, the past. Seems like it was only a few minutes ago….damn.
Anyway, the show was nominated for five Tony Awards, so it’s doing something right.
(On the other hand, that weird fish movie won an Academy Award a few years back, so take it for what it’s worth…)

Speaking of the 80s….
More nostalgia for big hair, the cold war and Ronald Reagan is on tap with an ELO tribute concert at the Arcada tonight.
(Look, we know we shouldn’t mention Reagan because politics or some damned thing. Hey, we’re channeling our inner Elon Musk, ok?)
This band bills itself as the “American ELO.” (For those of you who don’t know, get a life…and it stands for “Electric Light Orchestra” which was a thing back in the late 70s and 80s. You’re welcome.) Listening to some of their YouTube vids, we think they’re right.
So tease up that hair and head off to Arcada tonight, dudes.

Yes, More Music….
There seems to be a theme developing here….)
Look, any group that includes “Funk” anywhere in their name deserves a listen. And these guys are no different.
A band with deep Fox Valley roots, Funktional Family is renowned for its devotion to playing originals, not covers, and its unique combination of styles and instruments.
A little R&B, and little rock, a little blues and a whole lotta funk. It’s a fun time.

And Finally…
…more theatre.
We mentioned this play a couple of months ago at its opening.
We’re mentioning it again on its closing weekend.
If you haven’t seen it, you should really take this opportunity to check it out before it’s gone.

All-in-all, this weekend looks reasonably good. After some rain during the day Friday, the rest of the weekend looks pretty dry. And we’re finally gonna see some late spring-like temperatures, with a Saturday high of 81 and Sunday topping out at 71. As ever, plan accordingly.
If, for whatever reason, none of our fabulous four events doesn’t pop your cork, we’ll be very insulted. However, all hope is not lost. Simply go to www.foxvalleymagazine.com and check out our A+E and Events sections for other ideas.
Finally, please do us a favor. We would be eternally grateful if you could share this with some of your unsuspecting family, friends and neighbors. We’d also appreciate some love on our Facebook page (see below). Ok, technically it’s a “LIKE,” but don’t be pedantic. Also, that’s actually two favors. We’ll owe you.
Thanks for reading. Until next time…OH! One more thing. If you’re reading this via the website and would like to have this emailed to you bright and early every Friday morning, please SUBSCRIBE!
