Fox Valley-based group Funktional Family will make a rare live appearance at The Venue in Aurora this Friday.

With influences and sounds from virtually every corner of American music and deep roots in the Fox Valley area of Northern Illinois, Funktional Family has shared their distinctive co-ed harmonies, polyrhythms and improvisation heavy approach since forming in Feb 2000 in Saint Charles, IL.
Over the ensuing years and two albums of original songs they have expounded and expanded upon their base as a jam/folk/rock group and forged a unique sound incorporating group vocals, percussion, stringed instruments, brass, reeds, and whatever else comes to hand. This Earth Day they will come out of live performance hiatus to share an acoustic evening with Fox Valley singer/songwriter staple, raconteur, amateur whiskey enthusiast, and one of the founding members of Dick Smith, Mr. Dave Ramont.
