The offending vehicle is a red or maroon color SUV, possibly a Jeep Cherokee with front driver’s side damage. Deputies are asking anyone with information to call Detective Minuth at 630-208-2034.

The Kane County Sheriff’s Office is asking for assistance locating the vehicle and driver involved in a potentially fatal hit-and-run incident north of St Charles Monday afternoon.

At approximately 4:15pm, Kane County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the intersection of Illinois Rt. 25 and Gilbert St. in Unincorporated St. Charles Township for a report of a hit-and-run traffic crash. Deputies discovered that a 2020 Harley Davidson 3-wheel motorcycle was traveling north on Rt. 25 and stopped at a red light at the intersection of Gilbert St. A red or maroon color SUV was also traveling north on Rt. 25 and approached the motorcycle from behind at a high rate of speed. The SUV struck the motorcycle and fled the scene north on Rt. 25.

The driver of the motorcycle, a 72 year old resident of St. Charles, was transported to an Elgin area hospital with potential life threating injuries. The Kane County Accident Reconstruction Team responded to the scene to assist KCSO deputies with the investigation.

Photos will be released when available.
