A taste of authentic Scottish fare in your backyard!
When was the last time you entered an award winning restaurant to the sounds of expertly played bagpipes, before enjoying a skillfully prepared meal served on beautifully decorated Royal Albert dinnerware?
You’ll experience all this and more when you come to Balmoral Restaurant, a gem to be discovered in Campton Hills, Illinois, located in the Fox River Valley, some 40 miles west of Chicago. This unique restaurant is the perfect place to celebrate a special occasion or to just enjoy a relaxing night out with friends in a unique spot with remarkable cuisine.
Balmoral Restaurant is the vision of Colin Smith, a restaurateur from the Old Country, born in Perthshire, Scotland. On a trip back to Scotland in 2013, Colin visited the royal residence of Balmoral Castle, located in eastern Scotland. In typical fashion, its dining hall was laid out with golden cutlery, fine crystal, and banded dinnerware depicting scenes of Scottish flora and landscapes. That’s when a spark of inspiration struck: “Everyone should dine like this,” Colin thought. Three years later, he found the location that would be his Balmoral, in Campton Hills, and began building his Stateside version of that royal estate’s dining room — right down to the place settings. And now, you can experience Balmoral’s tradition of fine dining, Grand Scottish Fare and beautiful dinner settings closer to home.
In addition to great food prepared by the best chefs in the Fox Valley, you can enjoy a large selection of whisky imported from Scotland, in addition to fine rum, brandy and liqueur. If cocktails are your go to, Balmoral’s carefully crafted drinks are a must! In keeping with the Scottish tradition, Balmoral also imports beer brewed with heather, myrtle and other bittering herbs that pair well with any of the restaurant’s signature dishes. A superb and extensive list of wines, sourced from the four corners of the globe, are perfect for toasting, as well. One shall not go parched at Balmoral. It’s the Scottish way.
Since opening in 2018, Balmoral Restaurant has accumulated an impressive list of accomplishments, including being recognized as “BEST” in over a dozen categories by the Daily Herald’s Readers’ Choice including Best Chef, Best Theme Restaurant, and Best Romantic Restaurant. Discover Scottish fare for yourself, at Balmoral!
