A second teenager has died following Tuesday’s single-car crash in Bartlett.

Sixteen year-old Cameron Kelty of Bartlett passed away yesterday as a result of injuries suffered in the crash which also took the life of fellow passenger Alex E. Czerwik, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

At approximately 9:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Bartlett Police Department responded to the intersection of Newport Lane and Devon Avenue to investigate a fatal car crash involving a single vehicle. Bartlett Police alleged a 16-year-old male was driving a 2021 Honda Civic westbound on Devon Avenue from Newport Boulevard when his vehicle struck a curb, a speed limit sign, and then a utility pole before it rolled over on its roof.

District U46 CEO Tony Sanders posted the following announcement on his personal Facebook account this morning:

Dear Colleagues:

I am sorry to inform you that another Bartlett High School student, Cameron Kelty, who was involved in the single vehicle accident earlier this week, passed away this morning. Principal Demovsky has informed the BHS community, but I wanted to make you all aware.

Please keep all of the students and families involved in this tragedy in your thoughts and prayers.

The BHS and District crisis team remains activated. Grief and loss counselors will be at the school to help students and staff on Monday. We will continue to support for as long as needed.

Employees may also access our Employee Assistance Program at (866) 828-6052.

With deep sadness,

Tony
