Sox Sweep Double-Header from Detroit

The Chicago White Sox fattened up on the league’s worst team, sweeping the hapless Detroit Tigers 3-1 and 11-0 in a double-header Thursday.

The twin bill was necessitated by the postponement of Wednesday’s scheduled game.

In the opener, Sox starter Carlos Rodon struck out a career-high 12 batters in 6 innings, collecting his 4th win against 0 losses to start the season.  His ERA so far is a microscopic .72.

It was all Sox in the nightcap.

Sox starter Dylan Cease struck out a season-best nine in his first career shutout.  Third baseman Yoán Moncada and designated hitter Yermín Mercedes homered, and the Tigers suffered their 12th loss in 14 games. The Sox have won 6 of their last 7.

The Sox (14-10) play tonight against the Cleveland Indians at Guaranteed Rate field.
