A North Aurora man has received a sentence of eight years in prison as part of a plea deal related to an alcohol-influenced accident which resulted in the death of a motocyclist in Batavia last year. This morning, Kane County State’s Attorney Jamie L. Mosser announced that 40-year-old Luis Aca Osorio agreed to the sentence in exchange for a guilty plea to the offense of aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol – causing death, a Class 2 felony. A Dundee man has been charged with a wide range of felonies after allegedly breaking into the St. Charles Public Works facility and stealing a utility truck, and then allegedly stealing another car and setting in on fire. According to a St. Charles news release, on Wednesday at approximately 9:45pm a St. Charles Police Officer located a damaged and dislodged security gate at the St. Charles Public Works facility at 1405 South 7th Street. An 18-year-old Elgin student has been arrested and charged in relation to a threat made against Elgin’s Larkin High School yesterday afternoon. Adding to the disconcerting trend of social media threats to schools across the nation and here in Kane County, at approximately 1:00pm yesterday the Elgin Police Department was made aware of a school threat at Larkin High School. The social media threat was relayed through a third party to the School Resource Officer who began an immediate investigation. The City of Elgin is well on it’s way to a record year for gunfire incidents after another arrest for firearms violations this week. On Monday at 5:21pm, Elgin police officers responded to the 400 block of Addison Street having received reports of a dispute involving shots fired. Investigators discovered two firearms and an airsoft gun and, after interviewing multiple subjects, confirmed that shots were fired during the incident. No injuries were reported..
