The Kane County SWAT team was called in early Wednesday morning to secure the arrest of a St. Charles man accused of stabbing his friend.

At approximately 12:58am, St. Charles Police Officers were dispatched to the 3800 block of Chesapeake Road in St. Charles where a man was said to be heard yelling for help. Officers located a male victim who was bleeding significantly from a wound to one of his arms. A tourniquet was applied, and the St. Charles Fire Department was immediately requested to the scene.

The victim was identified as 34-year-old Salvatore Labarbera of Schiller Park. Labarbera alleged that he was inside his friend’s home when his friend stabbed him.

Officers on scene observed the suspect inside of the residence and attempted to make contact with him, without success. Due to the nature of the allegations, the Kane County SWAT Team was requested to the scene and, after a search warrant was obtained, SWAT team members entered the residence and safely took the suspect into custody without further incident.

The suspect has been charged by the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office with Armed Violence (a Class X felony); Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon (a Class 3 felony); and Aggravated Battery / Great Bodily Harm (a Class 3 felony).
