Elgin police are investigating three unrelated shootings the took place between Friday and Saturday evening. Two of the incidents resulted in the victim’s hospitalization. Elgin has now experienced 55 gunfire incidents during 2024, only 11 short of the record of 66 set in 2016. A 26-year-old West Chicago man was denied pre-trial release after being charged with supplying fentanyl to a woman who susequently died in an overdose. An Elgin man is in custody after allegedly attacking a juvenile who was using the football field behind Thompson Middle School in St. Charles. On Saturday at approximately 2:00pm, St. Charles Police officers responded to a report by a juvenile victim that he was approached and battered unprovoked by a man not known to him while on the football field behind Thompson Middle School. UPDATE: The Kendall County Coroner has determined that a victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds as a result of the shots fired in the 3800 block of Pratt Court in Plano. The victim, identified as 70-year-old Russell Novak, died as a result of his wounds. An 18-year-old man received a sentence of 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to murdering an Oswego man in 2022. Yesterday, Kendall County State’s Attorney Eric Weis announced that Brian Bell, Jr., of DeKalb entered a plea of guilty to First Degree Murder and was sentenced to 20 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections by Judge Jody Gleason. An Elgin man is in custody after a domestic incident apparently resulted in violence and a gunshot. On Sunday morning at 1:21am, Elgin police were notified by the Streamwood Police Department that an adult female reported to them that she was involved in a domestic-related incident in Elgin, where a firearm was possibly discharged.
