OK, we think it’s official. The Cubs are just playing with us. Hot off the best offensive performance of their year so far, a 13-4 drubbing of the Atlanta Braves, the Cubs decided to be generous to their Wrigley guests and return the favor, falling 13-4 the very next game. The Braves walloped 4 home runs in the top of the 1st against suddenly hapless Kyle Hendricks, and it was all downhill from there. We think that’s enough said.

The Chicago White Sox continued their somewhat disappointing start to the season by losing 7-3 after the Boston Red Sox scored 4 runs in the eighth to seal Chicago’s 8th loss in 14 games. The game was tied after 7 before White Sox relievers Codi Heuer and Jose Ruiz combined to give up 4 runs in the 8th, with the big blow coming when Xander Bogaerts hit a ground rule double against Ruiz to score 3. The Chicago Cubs found the offensive power that has eluded them most of this young season. In a big way. A 13-4 way. The Cubs got homers from four different players (William Contreras (2),Javy Baez, Kris Bryant (2), David Bote) for a total of six for the game.  That was more than enough for starting pitcher Trevor Williams who finished after 5 innings of work and earned his second win of the year. John Wilkes Booth shoots Abraham Lincoln President Abraham Lincoln is shot in the head at Ford’s Theatre in Washington, D.C. The assassin, actor John Wilkes Booth, shouted, “Sic semper tyrannis! (Ever thus to tyrants!) The South is avenged,” as he jumped onto the stage and fled on horseback. Lincoln died the next morning.
