An Elgin man has been found guilty of sexually abusing a child over a nineteen-month period beginning in October 2021. Kane County State’s Attorney Jamie L. Mosser announced today that a jury has found 36-year-old Ernesto Velasquez-Jimenez guilty of Predatory Criminal Sex Assault of a child, a Class X felony (3 counts), and Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse of a child, a Class 2 felony (7 counts). An 21-year-old man has been charged with First-Degree murder in relation to a stabbing death on Elgin’s north side Saturday afternoon. Kane County State’s Attorney Jamie L. Lords Park Zoo has four new cervine residents today. On Saturday, four deer sourced from Elkhorn Creek Whitetails, a USDA-certified farm in Oakdale, Illinois, were welcomed to the zoo, including two 4 ½-year-old deer, one 3 ½-year-old deer, and one 2 ½-year-old deer. The delivery of the deer was facilitated by Chase Baker, the president of the Illinois Deer Farmers Association. Elgin police are investigating a fatal stabbing on Elgin’s north side early this afternoon. The incident took place just after noon in the 1000 block of Cedar Avenue in Elgin, where Elgin police located an adult male with life-threatening injuries after receiving reports of a stabbing. The victim was subsequently transported to an area hospital and later pronounced deceased.
