The stars were out Wednesday in South Elgin as the Boys & Girls Club celebrated the opening of its 5000th facility. Denzel Washington, longtime national spokesperson for the organization and former member, stopped by to tell his story of how the organzation affected his life and lives across the country. “We’re investing in our future here,” he said. Three Cook County men have been accused of burglarizing an elderly couple’s residence home using a “contaminated water” ruse in Naperville. According to a joint press release from the Dupage County State’s Attorney’s Office and the Naperville Police Department, on Monday, April 10, at approximately 4:38 p.m., officers were dispatched to a residence on Waxwing Avenue for a report of a residential ruse burglary that had just occurred. Auroran Nicole Dickerson has died from injuries suffered during a three-vehicle accident on Eola Road last Thursday evening. Dickerson was 48 years old. At 8:52PM Thursday evening, APD officers responded to the area of Eola Road and Village Green Drive for a three-vehicle traffic crash. The preliminary investigation showed the driver of a southbound vehicle, a 32-year-old Aurora man, crossed the median and struck a northbound vehicle. The northbound vehicle, being driven by 48-year-old Nicole Dickerson of Aurora, was then struck by a third vehicle which was northbound Eola Road behind Dickerson’s vehicle. Second District Appellate Court Justice Donald C. Hudson passed away at his home early Tuesday, April 11, 2023, following a battle with cancer, according to a press release from Illinois Courts. He became an associate judge in 1993, was elected as circuit judge in 2000 and became Chief Judge of the Sixteenth Judicial Circuit in 2004.
