Update: Officials from the Kane Couty Sheriff’s Office have released the identity of the motorcycle driver killed during Monday’s crash at Kaneland High School. Sixty-year-old John B. Smith of Maple Park was killed when the Harley-Davidson motorcycle he was riding was struck by a Suburu driven by a 16-year old female student from Sugar Grove. The accident occured when the student exited out of Kaneland High School parking lot, driving eastbound onto Keslinger Road, and then struck the Harley- Davidson motorcycle, which was traveling westbound on Keslinger Road. Aurora police found a 19-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds inside a crashed vehicle on Aurora’s west side Sunday evening. At 7:24pm Sunday, police were called to investigate a vehicle crash and person shot in the 1300 block of North Glen Circle i Aurora. Officers found a 19-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds inside a crashed vehicle. Aurora Fire Department Paramedics transported the man to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later. No other injuries were reported as a result of the incident. An unidentified person is dead after a car struck a motorcycle while the former was exiting Kaneland High School in Kaneland Township Monday afternoon. At approximately 3:12pm Monday, Kane Couny Sheriff’s officers were called to Kaneland High School for a report of an accident with injuries. It was determined that an automobile had collided with a motorcycle while leaving the school’s parking lot. The collision caused the driver of the motorcycle to be ejected, resulting in severe injuries. St. Charles firefighters were called to the former Pheasant Run Resort Saturday evening to extinguish a fire in one the buildings there. At 7:22pm on Saturday, the St. Charles Fire Department responded to a structure fire in a building located on the grounds of Pheasant Run Resort at 4051 East Main Street. A nine-year-old child on bicycle was struck by a pickup truck and hospitalized with serious injuries on Aurora’s far east side Wednesday afternoon. At approximately 5:44pm, Aurora police officers were called to the area of East New York Street and Kautz Road, where they determined that the driver of a 2022 Chevy truck was traveling westbound on East New York Street and struck a nine-year-old bicyclist traveling southbound on Kautz Road. A woman was hospitalized early Sunday morning with wounds apparently suffered in a shooting incident near the Metra station in Elgin. At 12:24am Sunday morning, Elgin police officers responded to the 300 block of Ryerson Avenue for a reported shooting. Officers found an adult female with a non-life-threatening injury who was subsequently transported to an area hospital. In the wake of enhanced scrutiny of voting practices in Kane County and around the country, the Kane County Board has approved a $7.3 million upgrade in voting equipment to replace aging machines that have been in use for the past 18 years.  According to the company contracted to provide the upgrade, Hart InterCivic, voting will be very similar to the current voting process except voters will use a touchscreen instead of the “wheel” and “enter” button. Lighthouse Recovery, a local substance use disorder treatment provider, has placed a Narcan vending machine outside its St. Charles clinic located at 210 S. 5th St. in downtown St. Charles.
