An Elgin man has been sentenced to 36 years in prison for strangling his wife to death during a domestic dispute in July 2021.
Victor H. Ayllon, 38, pled guilty on April 25 to the offense of first-degree murder, a Class M felony. The court accepted the plea.
According to prosecutors, on July 12, 2021, the 4-year-old son of the victim, Wendy Ayllon, was found during the evening hours walking alone at the intersection of Lawrence Avenue and North Aldine Avenue in Elgin. Officers discovered his address to be in the 300 block of Heine Avenue and went to that location, where they found the deceased body of Ms. Ayllon on the floor. Her 3-year-old son was also in the home.
Investigators located her husband Victor at the home of his parents with faint marks on his wrists. He was taken to the hospital and subsequently released to the police. Investigators learned that the Ms. Ayllon had picked up Victor Ayllon in the early morning hours on July 12. They arrived back at the home at 2:16am. Victor Ayllon then left the home via car at 3:16am. A camera within the home captured the sound of arguing and the victim screaming followed by a thud during this time period.
Victor Ayllon was interviewed and admitted that he and the victim had been in an argument where he accused her of infidelity (no evidence of which was ever revealed to corroborate this) and she decried his drug addiction. That is when Victor Ayllon strangled his wife to death and left her body with the two minor children.
An autopsy confirmed that the victim died of manual strangulation.
In accordance with Illinois law, Ayllon must serve the full sentence. He receives credit for 1,074 days served in the Kane County jail.
“The defendant’s heinous actions, which resulted in the tragic death of his wife and the abandonment of their two young children with her body, are beyond reprehensible,” Kane County State’s Attorney Jamie Mosser stated. “His complete disregard for human life and parental responsibility has rightfully resulted in a significant prison sentence. This sentence brings some measure of justice for Wendy Ayllon and her family. Our thoughts remain with the young children who have been deeply affected by this traumatic event.”
