Kane County Sheriff Ron Hain provided a Facebook update on the recovery of one of his deputies who was critically injured earlier this week in a head-on collision with a pickup truck hauling a trailer. Rafael Hernandez-Villa, a chef at St. Charles’ El Puente Restaurant, was killed Tuesday evening when his bike was hit by a vehicle on West Main Street in St. Charles. Hernandez-Villa was 61 years of age. According to reports, Hernandez-Villa was riding his bike home from work at around 9pm Tuesday evening when he was struck by a Jeep Wrangler in the 1300 block of West Main street. A Schaumburg man has been sentenced to 23 years in prison for the sexual abuse of two children in Elgin. Kane County State’s Attorney Jamie L. Mosser announced that 39-year-old Randall Porter Rabey has agreed to a sentence of 23 years of imprisonment in the Illinois Department of Corrections in exchange for a guilty plea to the offenses of: Between November 2015 and July 2017, Porter Rabey sexually abused two Elgin children that were under the age of 13. A lawyer and honoree of the Illinois chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union who worked in the State of Illinois Comptroller’s office has been fired after expressing extreme antisemitic views in the wake of the October 7 terrorist attacks in Israel. Sarah Chowdhury was also the president of the South Asian Bar Association of Chicago, a position she also lost because of the controversy. A man police found shot on Elgin’s west side early Friday evening later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased. The identity of the victim has not been released. At 6:24pm Friday, officers responded to the 1200 block of Fleetwood Drive for a reported shooting. Upon arriving at the scene, officers located an adult male with injuries. The victim later succumbed to his injuries and the Kane County Coroner was contacted.
