A 67-year-old resident of Naperville is dead after a violent head-on collision on Route 56 in Sugar Grove early Friday morning. At approximately 5:11am Friday, the Sugar Grove Police Department and Sugar Grove Fire Protection District responded to the area of Route 56 and I-88 for an accident with injuries. A 2021 Jeep Wrangler, driven by a 21-year-old Aurora resident, and a 2018 Subaru Forester, driven by a 67-year-old Naperville resident, were found in the westbound lanes of Route 56 in what appeared to be the aftermath of a head-on collision. Three women have been arrested after police observed them leaving an Ulta Beauty store in Naperville with allegedly stolen merchandise. The women are suspects in two other thefts at Ulta Beauty facilities in the region. On Wednesday at approximately 2pm, Naperville detectives and patrol officers conducted surveillance on Naperville’s two Ulta Beauty stores after being notified by area law enforcement that a group of individuals in a black Mercedes had committed retail thefts at two regional Ulta Beauty stores. A 47-year-old man was shot and killed on Aurora’s east side Thursday around noon. Officers were called to the 100 block of North Calhoun Street at around noon Thurssday where they found a 47-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds in the rear yard of a residence. Aurora Fire Department Paramedics transported the man to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later. Officers searched the immediate area for the offender, but the offender was not located. The identity of the man is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. An Elgin man has received a sentence of seven years in prison for disseminating and possessing child pornography. Kane County State’s Attorney Jamie L. Mosser announced Thursday that 65-year-old Steven J. Young agreed to a sentence of seven years in exchange for a guilty plea to the offense of child pornography – disseminating, victim younger than 13, Class X felony. Judge John A. Barsanti accepted the plea. “Being in possession of child pornography and disseminating child pornography are serious crimes that our community does not tolerate,” Assistant State’s Attorney Matthew Rodgers said.
