A Streamwood man is in custody after having been arrested for an alleged shooting incident in Elgin in late January. On January 26th at 4:04pm, Elgin police officers responded to the 0-99 block of South Jackson Street in Elgin for a report of shots fired. Upon arrival, officers confirmed that shots fired had occurred. After further investigation, the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office charged an 18-year-old male suspect with Aggravated Discharge of a firearm at a person/vehicle (Class X Felony); and Aggravated Discharge of a firearm in the direction of a person/occupied vehicle (Class 1 Felony). Severe thunderstorms and tornados swept throught the Fox Valley last night, resulting from a freakish late February temperature inversion that had temperatures dropping from the upper 60s to 20s in the space of about an hour. Tornados have been confirmed in Batavia and near North Aurora, while funnel clouds were reported near Maple Park and Sugar Grove, according to the National Weather service. Inspired by the generosity of its employees, Northwestern Medicine is donating $200,000 to area food banks. The Greater Chicago Food Depository and Northern Illinois Food Bank will each receive $100,000. Health system leaders thanked staff and surprised them with the total gift amount during Team NM employee volunteer events at four food bank locations on Saturday, February 24. Northwestern Medicine leadership was inspired to dedicate more funds to the food banks after more than 5,000 employees opted to donate the grocery gift certificates they would have received as part of their holiday gifts. A Naperville man has been sentenced to thirteen years in prison for supplying a fatal dose of fentanyl to an Addison woman. Courvoisier Thomas, 40, appeared at his sentencing hearing Thursday afternoon in front of Judge Mia McPherson, who handed down the sentence. On September 27, 2023, Thomas entered a plea of guilty to one count of Drug Induced Homicide, a Class X Felony. On November 17, 2021, officers with the Addison Police Department found an unresponsive woman at a residence on Blecke Avenue in Addison.
