On Thursdayk, Elgin police and the Chicago Field Division of The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF) raided a house on the city’s west side and found illegal guns and made multiple arrests. At approximately 6:00am, Elgin police officers and ATF personnel executed a search warrant in the 1600 block of Mulberry Court. Multiple subjects were safely taken into custody. The warrant was result of a joint investigation by the two agencies. Four people are dead and five others wounded after a series of vicious knife attacks in Rockford and Winnebago County midday Wednesday. Exact details of the locations and crimes committed remain sketchy at this point, but a 22-year-old Rockford man is in custody as what police describe as the only subject in the attacks. The attacks took place in the southeast area of Rockford that straddles Winnebago county jurisdiction, and as such necessitated the involvement of the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office. Aurora police are investigating a shooting incident that left a man hospitalized in critical condition Sunday. At approximately 2:19am Sunday morning, officers were called to an alley in the 700 block of East New York Street after a local resident heard someone screaming for help. When officers arrived on scene they located an 18-year-old male suffering from gunshot wounds inside a parked vehicle. Aurora Fire Department paramedics arrived on scene and transported the man to a local hospital for treatment of critical injuries. No other injuries were reported during the incident. A 49-year-old Aurora man has been charged in the killing of his domestic partner in January. On January 13th, Aurora police officers responded to a single vehicle crash and shots fired near Prairie Street and Woodlawn Avenue. Auroran Serhonda Burnett, 46, was the sole occupant in the crashed vehicle, and was suffering from gunshot wounds when police arrived. She was transported to a local hospital, where she was pronounced deceased a short time later. Multiple outlets are reporting that an ocean-going container ship struck a pillar of a major bridge in Baltimore harbor early this morning, causing the bridge to collapse. The Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore collapsed early Tuesday morning after it was struck by a 984-foot cargo ship owned by Danish shipping giant Maersk and chartered by Synergy Group. According to a report by CNN, lights were seen flickering on giant ship just before it veered off-course and crashed into the pillar.
