The Geneva Chamber of Commerce’s 74th Annual Swedish Days Festival opens in downtown Geneva on Wednesday, and this year’s festival has an array of talent that offers something for every type of music fan.

“Bringing a mix of genres and styles to the festivals is always top of mind.  We begin on Wednesday with the Swedish American Children’s Choir as well as Geneva Park District performances and Geneva’s Got Talent semi-finals.  This has allowed the Geneva Chamber to bring new bands each evening to Central Stage, Thursday through Saturday.   We hope the audience enjoys returning favorites and new additions,” noted Johanna Patterson, Communications Director of Geneva Chamber of Commerce.

Wednesday evening’s Central Stage entertainment will begin at 4:30 p.m. with traditional Swedish promenade with music. At 5:30 p.m. enjoy live performances by various groups from the Geneva Park District including dance and cheer performances.  Immediately following will be the semifinalists from “Geneva’s Got Talent” performances.

Thursday don’t miss “Geneva’s Got Talent” finalists, starting at 5:00 p.m.  The Thursday evening entertainment continues at 7:00 pm with The Flat Cats.   Based in Chicago, The Flat Cats play a range of vintage and modern music from standards of the big band swing era to contemporary classics, providing quality entertainment for all walks of life.  This group of six talented musicians has been together for over 15 years bringing their love of music and audience engagement to the forefront.

Friday at 3:00 Blue Eyed Leo, a Chicagoland acoustic duo with deep “classic rock” roots and a strong passion for the enduring sounds of contemporary artists, takes the stage. At 5:00 Rico, a band with a rich sound of diversified musical cultures, takes the stage.  A mixture of sophisticated melodic genres and ethnicity coming together is the essence of Rico! And to round out the night, at 7:00 Libido Funk Circus is back. Libido Funk Circus began as an over-the-top tribute to the disco music of the 70’s and has continued to entertain a wide range of audiences for over 20 years. Along with beloved disco hits, the band also plays hundreds of dance and rock songs, spanning from the 60’s through today.

Saturday is sure to be a slam dunk with Basketball on Third Street at 4:00, followed by Classical Blast at 5:00. Classical Blast performs classic rock music melded with famed classical music, all on classical & rock instruments. Their signature summer show features classic rock music from the late ’60s to current hits, all mashed with music by the great composers: Bach, Beethoven, Handel, Mozart, Chopin, and others.

Closing out the Swedish Days central stage at 7:00 is The Ron Burgundy’s, who bring the music and the fun to all their shows. This live band delivers yacht rock and soft-core hits from the 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s. They play tribute to artists like Kenny Loggins, Toto, Huey Lewis, Fleetwood Mac, Boz Scaggs, Steely Dan, Billy Joel, Rod Stewart, and many more.

Stop by the Craft Beer tent from 1-3 Wednesday – Friday and 12-4 on Saturday for even more great performances.  Performing are Danny Cohen, Matt Shukin, Nicole Devine, Holy Ghosted with Matt and Andrea and Danny and Katie O’Brien.

All evening concerts will be held at the Central Stage and in the Craft Beer Tent on James Street during the day.

The festival schedule can be found at genevachamber.com and will be available at the festival June 19-23 at our information tent on the Courthouse Lawn.
