The young Batavia girl who lost her life in a tragic, weather-related boating accident on Lake Geneva over the holiday weekend has been identified. Numerous outlets are reporting that a GoFundMe page established by the family has identified the victim as 10-year-old Kathryn (Kate) Schmidt. Kate was the cousin of two other victims of the accident, 7-year old Abigail Oswald and her brother, 6-year-old Caleb Oswald, both of Wheaton. The Naperville Park District and the City of Naperville will host a free community celebration in honor of the United States’ 250th anniversary on Saturday, July 4, at the Frontier Sports Complex.
